Hardware

Acellent's purpose-built data-acquisition (DAQ) hardware interfaces with our SMART Layer® sensors to generate and capture diagnostic signals with maximum fidelity. We offer a variety of standard models with different capabilities, channel counts, and deployment methods (on-board and off-board). We can also work with you to develop fully custom designs with novel capabilities.

ScanGenie series

Our ScanGenie series of hardware supports "active" acousto-ultrasonic data-acquisition (DAQ) from a network of piezoelectric (PZT) sensors mounted on or embedded within a structure. The ScanGenie enables damage detection—either in localized "hot spots" or large areas—on metal and composite structures. Different models in the series—as shown below—support different numbers of PZT channels, can interface with additional types of sensors, and are designed for either off-board or on-board applications.

ScanGenie Mini

The ScanGenie Mini (SG Mini) is the smallest and lightest-weight model in our ScanGenie series. It supports up to 32 PZT sensors and a single digital temperature sensor. Intended for off-board applications, it comes in a compact, all-metal enclosure, suitable for laboratory use. All sensor cables connect using standard D-subminiature connectors to facilitate easy connections. The SG Mini interfaces via USB with a Windows-based computer running any member of Acellent's SHM Pro software suite.

ScanGenie IV

The ScanGenie IV (SG IV) is the high-end, flagship model in our ScanGenie series, succeeding the older ScanGenie III. It supports up to 128 PZT sensors and up to 8 digital temperature sensors. Intended for off-board applications, it comes in a sturdy, all-metal enclosure, with a built-in battery, suitable for either laboratory or field use. All sensor cables connect via military-grade circular, locking connectors (MIL-DTL-38999) to ensure reliable connections. The SG IV interfaces via USB with a Windows-based computer running any member of Acellent's SHM Pro software suite.

ScanGenie Wireless

The ScanGenie Wireless (SGW) is a variant of our ScanGenie Mini, designed specifically for on-board applications. It combines all the features of the SG Mini (up to 32 PZT sensors and a single digital temperature sensor) with built-in storage and data analysis, allowing autonomous operation and remote deployment. It also supports an optional tri-axial accelerometer, optional GPS, and/or an optional 3G/4G/LTE cellular modem. For applications that require on-board processing but prefer to use wired communication, Ethernet is available as a build-to-order option. The SGW comes in a sturdy, all-metal, fully-ruggedized enclosure and is suitable for use in extreme environments. Sensor cables connect using circular, locking connectors to ensure reliable connections.

ScanGenie Wireless Pro

The ScanGenie Wireless Pro (SGW Pro) is a variant of our ScanGenie III/IV, designed specifically for on-board applications. It combines all the features of the SG III/IV (up to 128 PZT sensors and 8 digital temperature sensors) with built-in storage and data analysis, allowing autonomous operation and remote deployment. It also supports an optional tri-axial accelerometer, optional GPS, and/or an optional 3G/4G/LTE cellular modem. For applications that require on-board processing but prefer to use wired communication, Ethernet is available as a build-to-order option. The SGW Pro comes in a sturdy, all-metal, fully-ruggedized enclosure and is suitable for use in extreme environments. Sensor cables connect using circular, locking connectors to ensure reliable connections.

IMGenie series

Our IMGenie series of hardware supports "passive" data-acquisition (DAQ) from a network of piezoelectric (PZT) sensors mounted on or embedded within a structure, providing a complete solution for impact detection, temperature mapping, and load/strain monitoring on all types of structures. Given the nature of these applications, all IMGenie models are designed for on-board deployment, offering built-in storage and data-analysis capabilities to support continuous, real-time operation.

IMGenie Pro

The IMGenie Pro is our latest model of "passive" DAQ hardware. Enclosed in a black, ruggedized PC-ABS plastic suitable for both laboratory and field applications, it supports up to 32 PZT sensors, 3 RTDs, and 9 strain gauges. The IMGenie Pro provides results via built-in Ethernet or wireless interfaces (Wi-Fi and 4G/LTE are available as build-to-order options).
